Oven Clean and Repair is Cooking on Gas

Starting Oven Clean and Repair was a natural career choice for owner Chris McLoughlin. “Working in catering meant that I was always cleaning ovens and I thought how difficult could it be?”

Early 2020 and following five years working for a leading franchise company, McLoughlin was excited to launch his own business; just as it was taking off he was presented with the global Covid pandemic! “When we found ourselves plunged into lockdown I made the decision to suspend all appointments. Working in and out of people’s houses meant that there was a risk that I could transmit Covid to my customers, some of who are vulnerable or elderly. I took the decision of health over wealth and decided to scale back my workload.”Now that we are emerging from the pandemic McLoughlin has returned to work full time and to keep his customers (and himself) safe, he ensures that he wears PPE for every job.

Striving for perfection is one of the best things about his job. “When I arrive to a job and the oven is very dirty, showing the customer the end result gives me great job satisfaction!” Working on a variety of ovens keeps every day interesting. “I work on all types of oven, from Ranges, AGA’s, double ovens, single ovens including NEFF hide and slides and don’t forget the BBQ!”

The job doesn’t always come without the odd challenge. “I occasionally get called because someone has broken their oven door, often a hide a slide door, or the element has gone. This led me to completing a course to gain accreditation to repair ovens and now we offer a repair service too. I repair anything from a broken door to replacing a bulb.”

Oven Clean and Repair do not use abrasive or caustic substances to clean. “We don’t use harmful cleaning chemicals because it’s better for the customer. Some of our customers are pregnant ladies, elderly people, families with young children and the last thing they need is for us to use something acidic or really harsh in their house. We use a particular method that includes heating the ovens, using non-abrasive cleaner and good old fashioned elbow grease!”

As for the future, things continue to look bright for Oven Clean and Repair. “Demand has seen us expand our reach but my priority has and always will be customer satisfaction.”
